Last season, the Mountaineers signed coach Darian DeVries to a five-year deal. With him came his son Tucker, who was an elite shooter. Just after 8 games, Tucker has season-ending upper body surgery and applies to medically redshirt, which then gives him another year of eligibility. Just after one season with the Mountaineers, the DeVries duo abandon ship for, what Coach DeVries says to be, “the brand, the opportunity, the resources… It was just something I couldn’t pass up” (referring to Indiana Basketball). While they were here, it seemed to give West Virginia fans a new hope by beating teams like #3 Gonzaga, #24 Arizona, #7 Kansas, and #2 Iowa State, which I stormed the court for, and it was the same night the Commanders beat the Lions to advance to the NFC Championship.

It’s no secret that Ron Rivera was horrible in drafting players for Washington. Only a couple of players he selected still remain on the team. During his tenure with Washington, Rivera participated in 4 drafts, drafted 33 players, and at the beginning of this year only 12 out of the 33 players were rostered. His last two drafts with the team started with the 16th overall pick in the first round. He then proceeded to pick CB Emmanuel Forbes and WR Jahan Dotson, who are both now on other teams due to poor performance. Although those first-rounders didn’t pan out, there are two prospects in this year’s draft that could fulfill Forbes and Dotson’s potential and what they could’ve been for us.

Before we get into the next upcoming draft for the Wizards, let's reflect on the #2 selection and his output in the few months he’s been in the league. Alexandre Sarr, the 7-foot power forward, has continued to prove the narrative that was set on him prior to the draft, stating he will be a lengthy defensive presence, especially around the rim, but will struggle with offensive efficiency and playmaking with the ball. However, in the last 10 games, Sarr has scored 10+ points in every single game, averaging 13.5 PPG in that span. On the season he is averaging 11.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.8 blocks. Through his first 8 games, Sarr had 20 blocks, which made him the 2nd fastest teenager in NBA history to record 20 career blocks, which was more than Wemby, Anthony Davis, and Dwight Howard through 8 games. Could Sarr be accompanied with a 6'9 Blue Devil?

As of late, through the grapevine it seems like Kyle Kuzma and Tyus Jones are next on the chopping block to be traded. The Sacramento Kings are heavily interested in Kuzma, and the Wizards are looking to get two 1's for the versatile forward. Considering Cooper Flagg is a possible candidate for us in next year's draft, I am all for sending our veterans and stuck in the mud players away for picks, lower-tier players, cash, etc. 

Nationals top prospect James Wood made his MLB debut on Monday night with his first career hit being on a 3-2 count with the pitch ending up in the outfield. Prior to his first at-bat in the big leagues, Wood received a standing ovation. On two occasions Wood's helmet left his head in pursuit for another base. One of them was an error throw to first which led to Wood sliding into second with style.

Although I am surprised about Jaret Patterson being cut, I’m riding with these boys. I think we will finish the year with a record of 8-9. I believe our defense will finish top 7 in the league.  I'm going to enjoy watching our D-line as much as possible because I know we can't pay them all next year. And our secondary will surprise many with how many ballhawks we have. Logan Thomas' legs are a bull in a china shop, but I want him to stay healthy this year. HOWEVER, Cole Turner has a bright future, and the sooner we can get a connection between him and Howell, the better.

Or a walk-off homer to win your hometown the Little League World Series. That’s exactly what Louis Lappe did, Sunday, for California. 

This player will shock everyone in his sophomore season. Ball security is job security, and this player didn’t fumble once throughout his tenure at Alabama. While being a part of the Crimson Tide, this player played behind Josh Jacobs and Najee Harris. This player's rookie season started off the worst way possible by getting shot twice in the leg in a carjacking in DC. In light of this horrible setback, he returned remarkably quick by coming out to “Many Men” in week 5. If you haven’t guessed it yet, Brian Robinson Jr will shock many with a breakout season this year. 

Wemby is 7 foot 3 inches tall on a bad day, weighing in at 230 pounds. Built like a baguette, but can put the ball in the net. This 19-year-old from France has been called the greatest NBA prospect ever by some, but like every prospect that comes from across the bay, their physicality is questioned. Whether they can handle the intensity and rough play that comes along with playing in the NBA. I can assure you a kick in the balls from Draymond Green would rock his world, well both of them.

In the Commanders second preseason game last night, Joey Slye made a 49-yard field goal to put the exclamation point on the Battle of The Beltway. A battle, that which it was with a final score of 29-28. QB Sam Howell impressed many by going 19/25, 188 yards and 2 TDs, while only playing the first half. While this win seems like a definite turning point in this new era of the franchise, it wasn’t the most talked about thing that happened last night. New owner, and Washington’s savior, Josh Harris made the public think he was on drugs with one of the most awkward booth interviews you’ll ever see.
