Nationals Prospect James Wood, Came Into The League So Fast His Helmet Couldn't Stay On.

Nationals top prospect James Wood made his MLB debut on Monday night with his first career hit being on a 3-2 count with the pitch ending up in the outfield. Prior to his first at-bat in the big leagues, Wood received a standing ovation. On two occasions Wood's helmet left his head in pursuit for another base. One of them was an error throw to first which led to Wood sliding into second with style.

Wood grew up in Olney, Maryland, and went to high school at St. Johns, then later transferred to IMG. I attended his debut, and I have not been this excited for an up-and-coming Washington player in a long time. With the young guns we have in CJ Abrams and Mackenzie Gore, it's safe to say the rebuild has been successful up to this point. Not to mention the #2 overall pick, Dylan Cruz, being in the back of everyone's minds. As of right now the Nats are four games back from the wild card and it would be exciting to see this young group compete for a spot in the playoffs.
